VOSPERS OAK VILLA 4 - PENRYN ATHLETIC 1
Penryn's good run of results came to an end at The Mill. Having had to field a patched up side for several weeks a loss was perhaps inevitable.
Both teams had opportunities to score and it was thanks to Dean Harris that Penryn remained in touch for so long and in fact Penryn were unlucky not to take the lead just before half-time when Ashley Bradshaw saw his shot tipped away for a corner by Pethick.
The first goal came six minutes into the second half when James Hoblin delivered a deep cross to Crocker's feet and he turned and stabbed the ball past Andy Butcher from a couple of yards. Penryn made changes in a bid to get a grip of the game but all too often they found themselves exposed at the back whilst pushing forward to score the equaliser. In the seventy-eighth minute Crocker broke clear from the half-way line to go round the last defender and beat Butcher.
Within two minutes Penryn pulled
a goal back through Chris Davey who got on the end of Adam Trudgian's cross
to rifle his shot into the roof of the net. However, almost immediately Villa
struck with a third goal from Crocker with a fourth coming shortly afters
from Bradley Richardson.
