TRURO CITY 1 - PENRYN ATHLETIC 5

Penryn easily subdued the young City side at Treyew Road on Boxing Day. The home side found themselves two goals down after only 13 minutes and, despite fighting hard to come back into the game in the second half, never really looked like salvaging anything from a game which was dominated by the visitors.

Penryn were one up after just three minutes when Darren Edwards' shot was going wide of the target but kept in play by Jamie Thirkle who controlled the ball before firing a fierce shot across home keeper Tom Brooks into the far corner. Man-of-the-Match and Player-Manager Dale Band headed home the second ten minutes later from a Pete Maclean cross.

Truro improved in the second half and pulled a goal back on fifty-five minutes when Ben Williams started and finished a flowing move involving Jaisal Barot, Adam Williams and Matt Roberts, who slipped the ball through to Williams who slid the ball under visiting keeper, Steve Raven.

However, six minutes later Band restored Penryn's two goal advantage when he headed home Sean Johnston's cross. City's hopes of salvaging a point were snuffed out in the last 10 minutes. First Pat Shaughnessy embarked on a mazy run before firing past Brooks for a fine individual goal. the same player then slipped an astute pass through to Thirkle whose early cross found substitute Mark Goldsworthy, who controlled the ball before shooting past Brooks to complete an impressive Penryn victory.
