This game had so many scoring opportunities that the scoreline could easily have been in double figures. Penryn opened their scoring in the eighteenth minute when on form Ashley Bradshaw timed his run perfectly to latch onto Dale Band's pass and place his shot past Steve Raven in the Lillywhites' goal.

Within a minute, before the visitors had time to recover from the first goal, Band hit a low shot inside Raven's near post from eighteen yards. Despite a number of chances, the third goal did not come until ten minutes after the break when Jamie Marles presented Dave Rabone with a simple tap-in. St Austell did have a couple of chances to get on the scoreline but it was the home side who squandered innumerable chances which came their way before the final whistle blew.
