ST AUSTELL 2 - PENRYN ATHLETIC 2

Penryn arrived at Poltair Park with a 10 match winning run under their belt and confidence clearly brimming when joint player-manager Dale Band gave them the perfect start when he produced an overhead kick Hugho Sanchez would have been proud of from Pat Shaughnessy's inswinging corner.

However, the last thing any side wants to do is go one up so early at Poltair Park and St Austell responded in typical fashion, hitting their opponents hard and eventually forcing home an equaliser through Parsons as early as the 12th minute. Phillips' perseverance finally paid off when, after his first shot was saved by Steve Raven, the striker received the ball again and this time he was left with an easy finish into the bottom corner.

But Penryn showed why they are the team to fear at the oment when they again caused panic in the St Austell box as Shaughnessy's free kick eluded everybody and crept in at the back post in the 32nd minute. After four goals in the first half the game petered out into a scrappy affair after the interval.
