PORTHLEVEN 3 - PENRYN ATHLETIC 1

Porthleven always looked the stronger side during this evening encounter at Gala Parc. The home side took the lead in the eighteenth minute when ex-Penryn player, Steve Brewer hit a crossfield diagonal ball to Kevin Lawrence. Lawrence's cross found Andy Westgarth and despite efforts to block his effrots the ball found its way to back to Lawrence who scored from close range.

The visitors did have chances with Matt Moore making a determined run infield only to fire his shot just wide of the upright. Steve Warr's thirty-second minute shot pulled off a fine save from Sid Taylor who was lucky just a minute later when Dean Harris's corner just went wide of the far post.

Just before the break Lawrence gave a pass inside to Westgarth and he drilled the ball out of the reach of Andy Butcher and into the net off the inside of the far post.

The second half saw Penryn show more urgency and Sam Eglinton had two subsequent shots which went wide of the upright. Thirteen minutes into the half a superb free kick from Dean Harris saw Drummond outjump the home defence to head the ball home.

Ten minutes from time Porthleven finished the scoring when Westgarth gave Butcher no chance with his finish.
