NEWQUAY 1 - PENRYN 9
This was the game that Newquay would rather not have played due to have a number of their team on County Youth duty in Jersey. However, the League insisted that the clubs complete the fixture.
The visitors took the lead in the fifth minute following a foul on Matt Drummond. Dean Harris floated his free kick over the defence to the far post where Drummond headed it back across the face of the goal for Chris Davey to head down inside Will Holland's post.
Penryn added a second in the twelth minute when Harris controlled an awkward ball to push it through to Drummond who powered his way through to slip the ball past a stranded Hollands. Six minutes later Drummond picked up Steve Warr's pass and made ground down the flank, crossed the ball and Dale Band challenged the ball and slipped it in the back of the net.
Newquay pulled a goal back with Andy Morris a minute later.
The second half saw the homeside become very physical, however, the visitors scored again when Chris Davey headed the ball back into the middle from Adam Trudgian's cross for Drummond to slot in. The fifth goal came when substitute, Darren Martin provided the cross for Drummond to complete his hat-trick. It was Adam Trudgian's turn to get on the scoresheet next when he lobbed the keeper with a well-executed shot from the edge of the penalthy area.
Substitute, Dan Stidwell raced
clear to notch up the seventh goal and former Newquay player, Dave Rabone
scored the eighth and the ninth.
