PENRYN ATHLETIC 0 - KEYNSHAM TOWN 1
Penryn Athletic were knocked out of the FA Vase at the second qualifying round despite a much improved performance against Keynsham Town who play in the Western League, two leagues above Penryn.
Keynsham's Kevin Williams and Penryn's Hal Davis both went close with early efforts on goal. The home side then produced the best move of the match to release Dale Band, but he was thwarted by the offside flag.
New signing Bryn Wheeler then announced his arrival with a fine side-foot shot which was just over the bar. Keynsham were trying to make their presence felt at this stage and Luke Aplinski was the first to go into the book following numerous warnings. Adam Pryor then had a half chance as he caught Chris Astley off his line but unfortunately his effort was wide of the mark.
The second half continued in much the same fashion and a concerted effort from Penryn, especially Pete Maclean and Hal Davis which saw them keep out their opponents until the 67th minute when Raven was forced to make a good save from an Aplinski shot.
However, the home sdie were being gradually pushed back and on the 76th minute Ryan Beaks got to the by-line before crossing a ball in, that flicked off Dyer's head and looped into the far corner of the goal.
Penryn tried to get back into the match but Keynsham picked up a few more bookings in the final minutes with a number of free-kicks disrupting the flow of the game.
