PENRYN ATHLETIC 0 - FALMOUTH TOWN 2

Both sides played well in very hot conditions in this FA Vase first round tie but the finishing skills of the senior team proved decisive.

However, it was the home side who had the first opportunity to open the scoring as early as the third minute of the game when Dan Stidwell broke through the Falmouth defence and found himself one-on-one with the Town keeper, Nathan Murphy who palmed the ball away for a corner. A few minutes later Penryn forced another corner following an attacking move by joint Managers, Dale Band & Steve Jewell.

The visitors hit back with an attack by Kain Bond but his run was cut off by Sam Eglinton and the resultant corner was admirably dealt with by Captain, Pete Davey. As half-time approached the visitors began to pile on the pressure and despite further chances for the home side it was Falmouth Town who scored in the forty-second minute with Kain Bond heading home.

The second half saw Penryn continue to pressure the senior team however, fifteen minutes into the half Bowker put a high cfross in from the right and Fergus Nevin came charging in to head home from close range. Despite chances Penryn were unable to penetrate the visitors' defence and gain that consolation goal.
