DOBWALLS 3 - PENRYN ATHLETIC 3
Penryn started the game well and took the lead in the third minute of the game when Hal Davis vollyed home Shaughnessy's corner. Howver, the visitors looked shaky when Martyn Hake broke clear to blaze over the bar while Hugh Howlett slipped on the long grass to let in Jack Bartlett but he knocked the chance wide of goal.
The home side equalised in the 35th minute as Davis missed a challenge which allowed Matt Lindsay through to send a shot past Steve Raven and inside the far post before the covering defenders could get to it. Penryn had plenty of the game but lacked a goal outlet and within seconds of the re-start Lindsay dropped over a flighted cross, Raven misjudged his jump and the ball flew into the net.
The visitors started to struggle with Bartlett coming close and in the 51st minute Alex Martin played off a one-two with Hake as he cut through the defence to set up Bartlett who easily beat Raven in the Penryn goal. Penryn were not be beaten though and attacked with purpose. Sean Johnston went on a powerful run deep into the Dobwalls penalty area and slipped the ball through to Shaughnessy who hammered his shot past Dobwalls keeper James Castle from a narrow angle to make it 3-2.
Penryn pushed a third man up front with Steve Jewell putting on regular defender Pete Davey as well as strike Mark Goldsworthy and veteran midfielder, Steve Warr. However, it wasn't until the final minutes of the game that penryn began to seriously threaten and in the last minute Goldsworthy got free on the left byline and his cross struck the arm of Bartlett who was back helping his defenders. Davis' fiercely struck penalty went in despite Castle getting both hands to it to level the score.
