CALLINGTON 1 - PENRYN ATHLETIC 3
Penryn took the lead after 19 minutes when Liam Streat played an excellent crossfield pass to put Kayne Trevaskis clear on goal and he placed a shot past Cally goalkeeper Jamie Blatchford. Penryn had most of the first half possession with Callington resorting to some tough tackling in a bid to frustrate and bully their opponents with three Cally players being booked. Penryn throught they had made it 2-0 midway through the half when Streat put the ball into the back of the net but the goal was ruled out as Trevaskis had strayed into an offside posiition. Penryn were gifted another goal early in the second half though as Jeffries tried to guide a header back to his goalkeeper it fell short allowing Greg Hobbs to get to the ball just ahead of Blatchford. His effort was blocked by the keeper but Hobbs ran onto the rebound and tapped the ball into an unguarded net.
Ollie Moody and Streat both had chances to make it 3-0 but their efforts on goal were saved. The game swung back into the balance on 70 minutes when former Falmouth Town player Carlton Farnham latched onto a through ball and cut a pass into the box for Phil Burgoyne to strike a shot past Jason Peters. However, a couple of substitutions in the closing stages made the game safe as Stephen Owen and Lee Jeffery came on for Trevaskis and Streat. They quickly combined to score the third and final goal. Owen held the ball up well on the edge of the box for Davies to run and cross the ball for Lee Jeffery to score from close range.
