PENRYN ATHLETIC 2 - CALLINGTON 0
This was a lively end-to-end encounter with Callington creating the early chances with Penryn's keeper, Steve Raven having to make two point-blank saves from Sam Stevens and Chris Clark before Paul McAdam hit the home crossbar and Phil Burgoyne had a shot cleared off he line by Penryn Captain, Sean Johnston.
However, the home side hit back with Jamie Thirkle and Matt McIlroy missing clear-cut chances to open Penryn's account before Hal Davis' well flighted free-kick to Hugh Howlett who fired the home side into a 34th minute lead. Thirkle had another clear chance saved by Beman before Dale Band cut through the Callington defence allowing Pat Shaughnessy to crash his shot into the roof of the visitor's goal.
Although Callington had plenty of the game in the second half it was Penryn who created the real chances with Thirkle squandering two while Beman did well to keep his side in the game with three one-on-one saves against Shaughnessy.
